How much does a logo cost in 2026?
In 2026 a logo is priced in three different ways: a contest fee, a designer’s own quote, or a download from a logo tool. On 99designs, a logo contest starts at US$249, and the company says logo prices in the market run from almost free to $10,000 or more. An AI download is published much lower: Brandmark lists $35 for PNG and vector files, and Logocene’s smallest pack is $9.99 for 10 generations.

What are you actually buying?
The price of a logo is the price of a file plus the work that produced it. Those are easy to mix up. A $249 contest and a $35 download can both end in a mark on a website, and they buy different amounts of another person’s time, a different number of options, and a different kind of file.
Three purchases cover almost every quote a small business will see this year.
A designer. You hire one person, or a studio, to draw the mark. The fee is a quote for that project. Revisions, meetings and source files are whatever the quote names.
A contest. You pay a platform, and several designers submit concepts. You pick a winner. The platform’s package is the price.
An AI tool. You pay for a download, a pack of generations, or a subscription. The drawing is generated, then exported as the files that plan includes. Some tools also sell templates you edit yourself. That is closer to a kit of parts than to a commission.
This page uses published prices only. The contest numbers are from 99designs on 16 October 2026. The AI numbers are from Brandmark’s pricing page on the same day, from Logocene’s own pricing config, and from the Looka figure already on our site. A freelance day rate is not here, because inventing one would make the comparison look more precise than the sources are.
How much does a design contest cost?
99designs’ logo pricing page, read on 16 October 2026, lists four fixed packages. Prices exclude sales tax.
| Package | Price | Design concepts, approx. |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | US$249 | 30 |
| Silver | US$399 | 60 |
| Gold | US$799 | 90 |
| Platinum | US$1,050 | 60 |
The same table lists a money-back guarantee, full copyright ownership, designer level, a dedicated manager and prioritised support. The version of the page we could read did not show which of those ticks belongs to which column, so this article does not assign them. If a manager or a top-level-only pool is the reason you would step up a package, read the live grid.
On the logo design page, 99designs answers ‘how much does a logo design cost?’ with this span: from almost free to $10,000 or more, and on their platform from $249. That sentence is their description of the market, not a survey we ran. It is the only wide range this article will quote.
What you get at the end of a contest, in their own FAQ, is one winning logo and the rights to it after handover. The files they name are an editable vector file, usually Adobe Illustrator, EPS in CMYK and RGB, and a web preview such as JPG or PNG. Designers own their submissions until you pick a winner. During handover they transfer the rights. A refund, they write, means you are not entitled to use the designs that were submitted. The guarantee they describe is 100% within 60 days, with exceptions for a guaranteed designer prize and for contests that have entered the final round.
A contest fee buys a pile of options and a process, then one winner. It does not buy the other concepts. Budget the time to write a brief and to comment, because the package does not do that for you.
How much does a designer cost when you hire them directly?
A one-to-one designer is a different contract from a contest, even when the designer is found on the same site. 99designs also offers projects with a single freelancer. This page does not quote a rate for that, or for a studio, because the public page we used does not publish one standard project fee.
What you can say, from the same logo page, is the span they print: almost free at one end, $10,000 or more at the other, with their own contest entry at $249. A studio quote can sit anywhere in that span. Ask it to list the files, the rounds of revisions, and whether trademark research is included. Many quotes are for the drawing only.
Ask for the source file by name. An Illustrator or SVG file is what you will need the next time the mark changes size. A flattened PNG is a picture of the logo. If the quote includes a short guide, look for clear space, a minimum size, colour values and a black version. Those are the pages a printer and a developer open.
How much does an AI logo tool cost?
Published download prices are lower than the contest packages, and they buy a file rather than a person’s week.
| Offer | Price | What the price names |
|---|---|---|
| Logocene pack | $9.99 for 10 generations, about $1 each | Nine logos a generation, traced to SVG, PNG, palette, Google Fonts pair, 30-page web guide. Credits do not expire |
| Logocene Pro | $14.99 a month | 20 generations a month |
| Logocene Studio | $39.99 a month | 70 generations a month |
| Brandmark Basic | $35 one-time | PNG and vector logo files |
| Brandmark Designer | $95 one-time | Source files, revisions, brand guidelines, one-page websites, cards, social posts, presentations |
| Brandmark Enterprise | $195 one-time | Designer package, up to 10 hand-crafted concepts, font download |
| Looka vector package | $65 | The figure on our Looka page, from an October 2026 check of looka.com. The 16 October pricing page text listed Premium as PNG, EPS, SVG and PDF, and did not include a dollar amount |
Brandmark’s page says the prices are one-time and that there is no monthly charge. That matters when you compare it with a subscription. A $15 monthly plan that you keep for a year is not a $15 logo.
Looka’s pricing page, read on 16 October 2026, also describes an annual Brand Kit subscription with guidelines, cards and social assets. The fee was not in the text we received. The one-time Basic package is one PNG at 1000×1000 on a coloured background. Premium is the line that names SVG. Until their page shows a current dollar amount, the $65 on our Looka comparison is the number to reuse, and then to check.
Logocene’s first generation is free to view, with a watermark. The $9.99 pack is the smallest purchase that pays for clean files. One credit covers the nine concepts in a generation: the watermark comes off all nine, and the ZIP downloads. You are not buying a single $1 file as a separate product. You are buying a pack, and each generation inside it works out about $1. Details are on pricing.
A paid Logocene download includes a commercial licence for your brand. It does not include a trademark search, and it does not include the right to resell the files as a template. The terms are the wording. Google Fonts named in the kit stay under their own licences.
What is a fair way to compare the three prices?
Put the same four questions next to each quote. The dollar amount is the last of them.
How many options do you see before you commit to one mark? A 99designs Bronze package lists about 30 concepts. A Logocene generation is nine marks for one brief. Brandmark Enterprise mentions up to 10 hand-crafted concepts at $195. Basic does not say how many you see before you pay.
Is the vector file in that price? 99designs’ contest FAQ names an Illustrator file and EPS. Brandmark Basic names vector at $35. Looka Premium names SVG, with the dollar amount taken from the earlier $65 check. Logocene’s SVG is in the paid ZIP, not in the free preview. A quote that only mentions PNG is a smaller purchase.
Who owns the result, and when? On 99designs, rights move at handover of the winner. Looka’s Premium line says full ownership for commercial or non-commercial use, and that they do not register the copyright for you. Logocene’s licence covers the downloaded files for your brand once the generation is paid for. Brandmark’s pricing lines that we read do not include a licence sentence.
What happens if you hate the result? 99designs describes a money-back window, with the exceptions above, and says a refund ends your right to use the submissions. Logocene returns a credit automatically if a generation fails, and the refund policy gives 14 days to write about a purchase. Ask a designer what the kill fee is before you pay a deposit.
A café that needs a mark on a cup and a website could pay US$249 to open a Bronze contest, $35 for Brandmark Basic, or $9.99 for ten Logocene generations. Those three buy a contest winner with EPS files, a PNG and vector from Brandmark, or ten rounds of nine traced marks and a guide. The first Logocene look is watermarked and free. A commercial licence is not a trademark filing. The file guide is the set to ask for before you approve a quote.
Which purchase fits which week?
If you are ordering a sign next week and you already know the idea, a published vector download is the short path. Brandmark’s $35 line and a paid Logocene generation both name vector files. Confirm the live page, download the file, and send the SVG or EPS to the printer before you print a batch.
If you want many human designers to interpret a brief, and you can spend the days to review them, a contest has a published entry at US$249. Read the package grid on the day you pay, including tax, and keep the handover terms.
If you are hiring one designer, ask for a quote that lists files, revisions and research. Use the almost-free to $10,000 span only as 99designs’ description of the market, not as a target. If you want several tries and a written guide without a subscription, Logocene’s pack is $9.99 for ten generations, and the credits do not expire. The pricing page lists the monthly plans as well.

Questions
How much does a logo contest cost?
On 99designs, checked 16 October 2026, the logo contest packages are Bronze US$249, Silver US$399, Gold US$799 and Platinum US$1,050. The page says prices exclude sales tax. Concept counts on that table are about 30, 60, 90 and 60.
How much does a freelance designer cost?
This page does not print a typical freelance fee, because we did not find a primary rate card to cite. 99designs, on its logo page, says prices in the market run from almost free to $10,000 or more, and that a logo on their platform starts at $249. A direct hire is quoted per project.
How much does an AI logo download cost?
Brandmark lists $35 for PNG and vector files, and $95 for the Designer plan with brand guidelines, on brandmark.io/pricing, checked 16 October 2026. Looka’s vector package was $65 on an earlier October 2026 check of looka.com. Logocene’s smallest pack is $9.99 for 10 generations.
Does the cheapest option include a vector file?
Not always. A free or low preview is often a PNG. Brandmark’s $35 line says PNG and vector. Logocene’s clean SVG is in the paid download, not in the watermarked preview. Ask for the extension before you compare the prices.
