Free logo makers in 2026: what you can download without paying
A free logo maker is only free if a file downloads and your card is not charged. Shopify says its download is free and yours to own, LOGO.com’s free column says PNG only, and Canva says you can download without naming the file type. Logocene’s free generation is a watermarked preview of nine logos: the clean SVG and PNG need a credit, and the smallest pack is $9.99.

What does free mean on a logo maker?
Free means a file lands on your computer and your card is not charged. A preview you can look at, a mockup with a watermark, and a button that says download and then asks for a plan, are all common, and only the first one matches the search.
| Tool | What the page says is free | File named for that free step | What is still paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Logo Maker | The download, and the logo is yours to own | File type not named | Nothing stated on the page we read |
| LOGO.com free column | A saved logo on the free column | PNG only, including a transparent row | Brand Plan, at $15 USD a month or $60 USD a year in the page data |
| Canva logo maker | The page says you can download | PNG is mentioned as web advice. SVG is not named | Paid plans are not priced on this page |
| Logocene | The first generation, to view | A watermarked preview, not a clean file | One credit for the SVG and PNG. Smallest pack $9.99 |
| Looka | Not described as a free file | Basic is one PNG, described as a purchase | Premium names SVG. The dollar amount was not in the 16 October text |
| Brandmark | No $0 row | The list starts at paid files | Basic is $35 for PNG and vector |
We did not create accounts or click download on Shopify, LOGO.com or Canva. Where a page says the file is free, that claim is theirs. Logocene is ours, and the free terms below are the ones in the product.
What can you download from Shopify without paying?
Shopify’s logo maker, read on 16 October 2026, says the tool is completely free. The page says there are no hidden fees or upfront costs, and that the logo you design is yours to own. The steps it describes are: choose a category and a visual style, enter a name and an optional slogan, pick a design, edit it, and download.
The page does not name the file extension, the pixel size, or whether a vector file is included. ‘Yours to own’ is a licence claim, not a format. Open the download and read the extension before you send it to a printer. The page also does not mention a brand guide or a font licence. The file guide is the checklist once you have the file.
What can you download from LOGO.com without paying?
LOGO.com’s pricing page, read on 16 October 2026, has a free column beside Brand Plan and Business Plan. On the logo file rows, the free column reads PNG only. That label appears for full colour, greyscale, transparent, and transparent greyscale. The paid columns, on those same rows, show counts of files instead of the words PNG only.
So the published free download is a PNG, in more than one colour treatment, and it is not described as SVG. Transparent PNG is still a useful file: it can sit on a photo without a white box. It remains a raster. Enlarged for a sign, it will soften. If PNG is what you needed this week, the free column is a direct answer. If a label printer asked for vector, it is not.
The page’s structured data prices the Brand Plan at $15 USD a month or $60 USD a year. That is the paid step up, not the free download. We did not find a Business Plan price in that data, so none is printed here. Our Looka comparison still avoids quoting LOGO.com, because an earlier layout was too muddy to trust. Confirm the live page, including the currency toggle. One free logo was the limit we could read, and the commercial-use tick was not clear enough to assign. Read that cell yourself if it is the reason you would skip paying.
What can you download from Canva without paying?
Canva’s logo maker page, read on 16 October 2026, calls the tool a free logo maker and says that when you are finished you can download the logo. It also describes templates, an editor, and an AI logo generator. In a general explanation of formats it says PNG is a strong choice for the web and that a PNG can use a transparent background.
That PNG sentence is advice. It does not say ‘the free download is a transparent PNG’, and it does not mention SVG at all. Canva sells paid plans elsewhere. This page does not quote them, because the logo maker page we read did not state a Pro price or a list of formats locked behind it.
Treat Canva the way you treat Shopify: make one small logo, download it, and look at the file before you build a brand system on the assumption. If the file is PNG and you later need a sign, you will still want a vector master. If the download button asks you to start a trial, then the page’s word free was about the editor, not about the file. Write down what the button did. That note is worth more than a review that never clicked it.
What does Logocene give you before you pay?
The first generation is free to look at. You type a name and one line about the business. You need an account, because the nine logos are saved to you. You do not need a card. You can open each brand guide: colours, a Google Fonts pair, clear space, minimum sizes, a contrast table, a type scale and misuse. The pictures of the marks are watermarked.
What you do not get on that free look:
- the clean SVG
- the PNG files at 512, 1024 and 2048 pixels
- the palette as JSON and CSS
- the licence file
- a watermark-free preview
One credit removes the watermark from all nine concepts in that generation and downloads the ZIP. The smallest way to buy a credit is the $9.99 pack, which is 10 generations, about $1 each. The credits do not expire. There is no separate ‘download this one logo for a dollar’ product. After the first generation, each new generation costs one credit and includes the clean files.
The free logo maker page says this in shorter form. The terms are the contract. The pricing page lists Pro at $14.99 a month for 20 generations and Studio at $39.99 a month for 70, if a pack is the wrong shape because you generate often.
The free look is one generation on the account, not a standing free tier. Gallery kits on this site are examples we published. They are not your download. The guide you can read is for that brand, and the terms say it is not a product you can resell. The named fonts stay under the Google Fonts licences. We do not run a trademark search on the free look or the paid one. If a paid generation fails, the credit comes back. Purchase refunds are in the refund policy: write within 14 days.
What do Looka and Brandmark say about paying?
Looka’s pricing page, read on 16 October 2026, describes Basic and Premium as purchases. Basic is one PNG. Premium names PNG, EPS, SVG and PDF. The dollar amounts were not in that text. The $65 vector package on our Looka page is from an earlier October 2026 check. Brandmark starts at $35 for PNG and vector, then $95 and $195. It does not list a $0 row. We are not describing a free vector file from either of them.
How do you test a free download?
Finish the flow until a file saves, or until a paywall appears. Read the extension. SVG, EPS or PDF can scale. PNG is a picture. Drop a PNG on a black background and look for a white box. Zoom an SVG until it fills the window. Stair-steps mean it is not a clean vector. Find the licence sentence on the seller’s site. ‘Yours to own’ and ‘commercial use’ are the phrases. A missing sentence is a reason to pause.
On Logocene, that flow stops at a watermarked preview unless you spend a credit. The $9.99 pack is the published price of the clean files. The free look is enough when you only need to see whether the brief produces a mark you can stand.
Which free path fits which job?
You need any mark on a profile this afternoon, and a PNG would do. Shopify says the download is free. LOGO.com’s free column says PNG only. Canva says you can download. Check the file. Keep the SVG problem for the week you print something large.
You need a vector file and you do not want to pay. None of the pages we read promise a free SVG in words we are willing to repeat. Logocene does not. LOGO.com’s free column says PNG only. Shopify and Canva do not name SVG. Brandmark’s vector line is $35. Looka’s Premium line names SVG and is described as a purchase. If you find a free SVG, trust the file extension over the headline.
You want to see nine options and a written guide before you spend. That is Logocene’s free generation: watermark on the pictures, guide readable, files behind one credit from a $9.99 pack. It is a free preview with the rules written down. It is not a free logo file.
The product page with the same terms, and the box to try a brief, is the free logo maker.
Describe your business

Questions
Is Logocene’s logo maker free?
The first generation is free to view, with a watermark, and you can read the 30-page guide. The clean SVG and the PNG files are not free. One credit removes the watermark from all nine concepts and downloads the ZIP. The smallest pack is $9.99 for 10 credits.
Can I download an SVG without paying?
Not from Logocene. The clean SVG is sent after a credit is spent. LOGO.com’s free column, read on 16 October 2026, says PNG only. Shopify and Canva did not name SVG on the pages we read. If a site promises a free SVG, download it and check the extension before you rely on the promise.
Does the free Logocene preview expire?
The free generation is one look, tied to your account. It is not a pack of credits. Credits you buy later do not expire. Pack wording is on the pricing page.
Are Looka and Brandmark free?
We are not stating a free vector download for either. On 16 October 2026 Looka’s pricing page described a Basic package as one paid PNG, and did not show the dollar amount in the text. Brandmark’s list starts at $35 for PNG and vector. Our Looka page says the same: check their site, and do not treat a preview as a file.
